Coal

What is smokeless coal?

Smokeless coal is a solid fuel that has been developed and manufactured, using a combination of naturally occurring materials, to emit less than 5 grams of smoke per hour when burnt.

What is a smoke control area?

Many parts of the UK are smoke control areas, where you can’t emit smoke from a chimney unless authorised fuel is used. Find out if you live in a smoke control area here.

What is the best fuel for me?

This entirely depends on your specific situation – particularly how often you burn your fuel and what type of appliance you use. You can call our knowledgeable team on 01361 882277 (option 1), they are always happy to help.

What’s the best value fuel?

It’s worth noting that the cheapest fuel does not always represent the best value. For instance, ordinary house coal may be less expensive but will not produce anywhere near the sort of heat out put and length of burn time that a premium smokeless coal will.
